programs at UAH date back to 1963, and doctoral programs
were introduced in 1971. The University has over 250 full members
of the Graduate Faculty, many of whom are internationally-recognized
scholars in their fields. Some 300 masters degrees (in twenty
or so programs) and 40 doctorates (in twelve programs) are graduated
annually, making UAH a strong contributor to graduate education
in the State, the Nation and the World. In addition, we offer
non-degree
certificate programs in several areas and we also welcome
non-degree students to our graduate course offerings. Our programs
cover a plethora of disciplines in five colleges: Administrative
Science, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Science. You
can also link to our admissions information and application
materials page. Over 1000 graduate students are enrolled
in our masters and doctoral programs, and are actively involved
in all matters relating to graduate education through graduate student
associations. The University of Alabama in Huntsville, and
the Graduate School in particular, is committed to providing
a quality educational experience at all levels. Our goal is
to provide you the best post-baccalaureate education possible,
both in formal coursework and in the research experiences associated
with thesis and dissertation work. Our graduate programs are
supported both by internal funding and by a strong base of externally
sponsored research. Many of our graduate students work on state-of-the-art
research projects in the preparation of their theses and dissertations.
The high rate of success is evidenced by the consistently large
number of students on the
Dean's List. Highly competitive stipends for teaching
and research assistantships are available, and many of our
students are supported by fellowship
programs. We look forward to the continued growth of our
graduate programs in all areas, and to the development of new
ones. I encourage you to explore the various program sites,
and to e-mail, telephone, fax or write to the chair(s) of any
department or program that interests you. You can also communicate
